Advantages for Redeemer
Becoming an Independent Lutheran Congregation
1. Redeemer would be the only independent Lutheran congregation in Macomb County. Currently, Redeemer is a smaller LCMS congregation surrounded by six larger LCMS congregations. By becoming independent we are offering people in Macomb County the choice to be part of a different conservative Lutheran Church. We would be offering an alternative to a large, costly, impersonal, unresponsive, coercive, Synodical bureaucracy.
2. Redeemer will have the option to call conservative pastors from any Lutheran Church body.
3. Redeemer will have the option of joining with a smaller like-minded group of Lutheran congregations.
4. Redeemer will continue to commune members of the LCMS and other conservative church bodies such as the WELS and ELS.
5. Redeemer will continue its current traditional Lutheran worship practice and supreme voter polity without the coercive machinations of District and Synodical officials who want to change worship and church polity, such as contemporary worship and PLI.
6. Redeemer will continue to utilize the best resources available through Concordia Publishing House, Northwestern Publishing House, and others.
7. Redeemer will continue to support Lutheran missions without being pressured to participate in the mission farce called, “Ablaze.”
8. Redeemer will continue to follow its traditional Lutheran doctrine and practice without being subject to the constant whims and reinterpretation of Lutheran doctrine and practice currently promoted by the COP at District and Synodical Conventions.
